Gerald Ferguson

November 14, 1942 — October 6, 2010

Gerald "Stormy" Ferguson of Savannah, TN, was born in Stantonville, TN. As Mr. Billy Wagoner recalls, "his grandmother, Mammy, Lonie Bell Wagner, was the only doctor a lot of famiies had." She must have birthed alot of babies at that time, one of those babies was Gerald Ferguson. She brought him into this world on November 14th, 1942 to Granville D. and Beulah May Nixon Ferguson. She was unable to save his twin borther, Burl. The Ferguson heirs are appreciative for "Mammy", her love and concern.

Gerald grew up to live a long and useful life, becoming a participating Christian along the way. At one tine, he was called to preach in a little white country Baptist church in Stantonville, TN. He was also a mechanic in Adamsville, TN and then a truck driver for forty years. He enjoyed playing musical instruments and singing gospel songs. In his later years ill health struck him, just like he rallied at birth, he rallied one more time. He had been a recipient of two miracles; one from a country granny woman and one from Vanderbilt University hospital in Nashville but both made possible through the power of God. On May 29th, 1996 he received a heart transplant, he was one of Vanderbilts oldest living recipients, fourteen years. His family and friends were blessed in sharing his love and he was blessed with a second chance. He was able to see his grandchildren grow up. He was a great spirited man and like a daddy and brother to many.

Just as ill health struck him before it did again, but this time he had rallied a long life and was ready to be with the Lord. He departed this life for a new life on Wednesday, October 6th, 2010 at 67 years, 10 months and 22 days.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Godwin Ferguson of Savannah, TN; two daughters, Lisa Goodrum of Bethel Springs, TN and Tara White Ferguson of Colorado; one son, Mark Ferguson of Stantonville, TN; stepdaughter, Tanya Vaughn of Crump, TN; stepson, Eric Moore of Savannah, TN; one special sister, Peggy Huggins of Stantonville, TN; nine grandchildren, Erica Ferguson Owens, Heather and Spencer Ferguson, Lindsey and Weston Ferguson, Clint Isbell, Lanie Goodrum, two children of Tara White Ferguson; four stepgrandchildren, Cody, Chelsea, and Riley Vaughn, Preston Moore; special nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Granville Ferguson; mother, Beulah Ferguson; stepfather, Hughie Wilson; son, Joey Ferguson; infant twin brother, Burl Ferguson; five sisters, Glenda Gerguson, Joann Wilkerson, Shirley Estell, Betty Lou Bratton and Mary Sue English.
