Gertie Irene Arnett

July 11, 1913 — February 15, 2010

Gertie Irene Rich Arnett of Florence, AL, formerly of Collinwood, TN was born July 11, 1913 in Wayne County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Louis Franklin and Virgie Belle Pigg Rich. She was united in marriage to Charlie Marshall Arnett and he preceded her in death on July 20, 1974. Mrs. Arnett was a homemaker, a member of the Scotts Chapel Freewill Baptist Church in Cypress Inn, Tennessee, and was a member of the Collinwood Senior Citizens.



Mrs. Arnett departed this life on Monday, February 15, 2010 at El Reposo Nursing Facility in Florence, Alabama at the age of 96 Years, 7 Months, 4 Days.



She is survived by a daughter, Arlean Pigg of Iron City, TN; grandchildren, Pat, Jamie, Sherry, Zena, Jimmy; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Jamila, Lindsey, Peyton, Brandon, Teresa, Robert, Vincent, Clint, Wyatt, Ali, Maggie, Leslia, Leshia, Dylan; great-great-grandchildren, Righle, Andrew, Kadin, Chase, Gabriel, Payton; a brother, Russell Rich of Collinwood, TN; two sisters, Reba Pigg Holt of Collinwood, TN, Viva Garrett of Pennington Gap, VA; several nieces and nephews.



In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Arnett was preceded in death by three sons, Charles Arnett, James Edward Arnett, Tim Arnett; five brothers, Carmel Rich, Jay Rich, Erby Rich, Robert Rich, Fred Rich; three sisters, Elsie Brown, Edith Hollander, Beulah Bourland; a granddaughter, Rena Sweet.



Services will be held on February 18, 2010 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel in Collinwood, Tennessee, with Tim Hanback officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Gardens at Collinwood, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors of Wayne County directing. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Rich, Tony Arnett, John Dial, Donnie Thrasher, Brian Smith, Rusty Rich. Honorary pallbearers will be Jamie Pigg, Jimmy Arnett, Matthew Stults, Clint Robbins.
