Mr. Gilbert Lawrence Tigner, 69, departed this life on April 19, 2017 at his home in Middleton.
He is survived by his wife, Patti Tigner of Middleton; two sons, Andrew (Candy) Tigner of Middleton and Aaron Tigner of Medon; one sister, Janette Tigner of Hornsby; and one brother, Bill Tigner of Hornsby. He is survived by three granddaughters who were his pride and joy - Kayla and Lily Tigner of Middleton and Madison Tigner of Ramer. He is also survived by two step-children, Melissa Range and April (Joe) Trivette, and one step-grandson, Colin Trivette. Mr. Tigner was the son of the late Larnce "Jake" and Frances Tigner of Hornsby, both of whom preceded him in death.
Mr. Tigner was a proud veteran of the United States Army and entered military service in 1966. He completed one tour of duty in Vietnam from 1967-1968 during the Tet Offensive. Following his discharge from the Army, where he attained the rank of SP4, he was a member of the Tennessee National Guard for many years. Mr. Tigner maintained many of his friendships from his "Army days", along with veterans of other conflicts and branches of service, and was always supportive of veterans and veterans organizations.
He was a 1966 graduate of Bolivar Central High School. Mr. Tigner was a graduate of the Mid-America Theological Seminary and was an ordained Baptist minister. He worked at Armira Corporation and retired from Western Mental Health Institute, where he had worked in the Nursing Department as a Psychiatric Technician, and later worked in the hospital's Maintenance Department.
