Gilda K. Hunt, 69, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2016.
Survived by her daughters, Ginger Yvette Hansen (Blaine James) of Banner Elk, N.C. and Mitzi Yvonne Palmer (Matthew Sheppard) of Raleigh, N.C. and three precious grandchildren, Averi Ella Palmer, Violet Reese Palmer and Ainsley Nieve Hansen.
Gilda was born April 15, 1947 in Waynesboro, Tenn. Over the years, she had called Memphis and Columbia, Tenn. home, but spent the last few years in North Carolina to be closer to her family.
She attended Waynesboro High School and Memphis State University. Gilda was a stay-at-home mom while her children were young, and later worked in accounting and finance –retiring as a finance director and consultant for local government.
Gilda is preceded in death by her loving husband of 38 years, Larry Boyd Hunt, and her mother, Lois Copeland King.
An avid traveler, Gilda spent the last several years exploring the world with dear friends. She made people feel special and was a loving mother and “Grammi GiGi”. Gilda had a way with her grandbabies. She always got down on their level and listened to what they had to say. She played, pretended, read books, had tea parties, swam, blew bubbles and most importantly, gave unconditional love to each of them. She will be greatly missed.
A graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Waynesboro, Tenn. at 3 p.m. on Friday, August 12 to honor her life and celebrate the heavenly reunion of Gilda and her Larry. Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, TN is assisting the family.
