Gladys Kelley Bateman

Gladys Kelley Batemanwas born in Decatur County, Tennessee on October 16, 1919 the daughter of the late Andrew David and Desdie Pearl Anderson Leeper.On June 19,1939 she was united in marriage to Clemmie A. Kelley, who preceded her in death on January 3, 1963. She was united in marriage to Thomas M. Bateman on May 4, 1990, he preceded her in death on June 20, 1997.Mrs. Bateman was a charter member of the First Baptist Church in Clifton, Tennessee and had retired from Clifton Contracting where she was a seamstress. She was known for her beautifully landscaped yard and flowers which she took great pride in maintaining herself. Mrs. Bateman departed this life on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at the age of 91 years, 11 months, 11 days.She is survived by a daughter, Louise K. Davison of Savannah, Tennessee; 3 sons, Joe A. Kelley of Savannah, Tennessee, David Kelley of Finger, Tennessee and Gene Kelley of Clifton, Tennessee; 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew David and Desdie Pearl Anderson Leeper; her first husband, Clemmie A. Kelley; second husband, Thomas M. Bateman; 4 sisters, Ethel Leeper, Arbie Wheat, Mae Lanier and Naomi Dawson; 2 brothers, Wilmer Leeper and Ray Leeper; grandson, Keith Davison.
