GLENDA NAYLOR WILSON
Henderson: Glenda Mae Naylor Wilson, age 67, died Monday morning November 2, 2015 at her home in Henderson.
She was born in the Old Friendship Community of Chester County, the daughter of the late Carl McRay and Juanita Pauline Lynch Naylor. Her grandparents were the late Frank and Sibbie Bell Cone Naylor and Arthur and Nora Blair Lynch. Glenda graduated from Chester County High School in 1966 and married Donald Merideth Wilson in 1967. They made their home in Henderson for 25 years. Glenda worked at Gladys’s Restaurant, Chester County Sportswear, and Record Truck Lines while Don was in the local guard.
They moved to Murfreesboro in 1995 where Don was employed with The Tennessee Army National Guard. Glenda did some substitute teaching.
After Don’s death in 2003, Glenda returned to Henderson in 2005.
She was very active in Relay-for-Life. She loved fund raising for Relay and had been designated as Honorary Chairperson. She was also involved with the March of Dimes and the American Heart Association.
She was a member of the Old Friendship Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday School and also taught in the Vacation Bible School.
She is survived by a daughter, Merideth Weeks (John) of Henderson, five grandchildren; Wilson Tripp Weeks, John Nicholas Weeks, Mikayla Kathryn Weeks, Julia Anne Weeks and Jessica Danielle Weeks; three brothers, Frank Naylor (Imogene) of Finger, Gary Naylor (Sherry) of St. Louis and Ronald Naylor (Debbie) of Finger; five sisters, Doris Weaver of Henderson, Willodean Whitaker of Selmer, Joyce Beecham (Roy) of Henderson, Kaye Middleton (Jimmy) of Finger and Devenda Frank (Mike) of Henderson and sixty nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Donald M. Wilson, a sister, Sue Roberts and two brother-in-laws, Jessie Weaver and Billy Whitaker.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Glenn Harris and Iran Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Old Friendship Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM Wednesday.
