Glenn Thomas Jones was born in Mobile, Alabama on January 25, 1941. The son of the late Joseph and Dorothy Ruth Thomley Jones, he would grow up to be a real "rocket scientist", traveling the world doing contract work as an electrical engineer specializing in aerospace engineering and working with all the major defense contractors such as Lockheed Martin, Boeing, and McDonnell Douglas, just to name a few.
He served his country in the Air Force during the Vietnam era, flying military planes and achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Glenn didn't particularly like joining things so his spare time was spent doing what he loved: playing the part of a pirate while sailing and racing in regattas or quietly fishing.
Glenn left this world on January 17, 2017 at the age of 75 years, 11 months, and 23 days. He leaves his favorite daughter, Diana Jones of Memphis, Tennessee, his stepsons Jay Vincent and his wife, Shirley, of Germantown, Tennessee and Steve Vincent and his wife Cindy of Collierville, Tennessee, and his granddaughter, Abbey Vincent of Germantown, Tennessee.
Other than his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by his brother, Barry Alden Jones.
A celebration of Glenn's life will be planned at a later date.
