Mrs. Glynn Cooper Darby of Whiteville departed this life at the age of 85 years, 1 month and 26 days Thursday morning, July 26, 2012 at her home.
She was born in Coldwater, Mississippi to the late Henry Coleman and Annie Shelton Coleman. A 1945 graduate of Coldwater High School, where she was a star basketball player, she attended Northwest Mississippi Junior College. On May 31, 1952 she was united in marriage to Jere N. Cooper and the two of them made their home in Whiteville. After Mr. Cooper passed away December 24, 2000, she married Price Darby, who died in April of 2012.
Mrs. Darby worked as a homemaker and was a retired educator from the Hardeman County Board of Education. She was a member of the Whiteville First Baptist Church, where she also formerly taught Sunday School. The things she enjoyed most in her life were teaching, flower gardening and caring for her family and friends.
Survivors include a son, Allen Cooper and wife Linda of Whiteville; five brothers and sisters, Robert Coleman of Senatobia, Ruth Bryant of Olive Branch, Ann Christmas of Hernando, Minor Coleman of Coldwater, and Milton Coleman of Sardis; one granddaughter, Katie Logan and husband Robert of Williston; and one great-grandson, Thomas Casey Logan.
