Gordon Leigh Michael

Gordon Leigh Michael was born October 12, 1928 in Selmer, TN, the son of the late Wiley N. Michael and Gracie Jones Michael. He departed this life on April 12, 2023 in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 94 Years, 6 Months.

Gordon was united in marriage to Minnie Lou Russom on September 13, 1949 in Annapolis, Maryland. He worked as a Cost Accountant for Wurlitzer for 33 years, for Southwest H.R.A. in Henderson, Meals on Wheels and Weatherization for 10 years. He served in the United States Navy, was a member of the Lakeview Baptist Church in Selmer, TN and was part of the Hardee's morning crew. He was very active and meticulous in all the things he did. Gordon enjoyed selling vegetables and peaches out of his front yard for 20 years.

He is survived by a daughter, Cynthia (Cindy) Kirk and husband Bobby of Selmer, TN; two grandchildren, April Lewis and husband Bryant of Selmer, TN, Landon Kirk and wife Merri Leigh of Selmer, TN; five great grandchildren: Taylor Weeden and husband Blake, Maddie Carroll, Gabriel Kirk, Gideon Kirk, Genesis Kirk; a grt-grt-grandchild, Wyatt Weeden; Brothers-in-law, John Jordan and Charlie Greene; sisters-in-law , Doris Russom Clifton and Joanne Russom; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Michael was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Lou Russom Michael who preceded him in death on June 4, 2005; a sister, Aleene Michael Kelly; four brothers: Robert Michael, Mansel Michael, Norman Michael, TL Michael.
