Grady Lard, Jr.
was born in Waterloo, Alabama on December 31, 1930 the son of the late Grady Lard, Sr. and Mazie Curry Lard.
On February 7, 1953 he was united in marriage to Margie Lucille Gray, who survives.
Mr. Lard retired as Plant Manager from Angelica Image Apparel in 1999.
He was among the 20 people enlisted in the National Guard when organized in Savannah, Tennessee, he was also enlisted with the Navy. He attended Tennessee Technology Center at Crump, Tennessee for Computer Training and UT Martin for Business Management. Mr. Lard loved traveling and singing. He was a member of the Double Springs Baptist Church, singing in the choir and serving as Deacon and Church Treasurer for 40 years. He was a great sportsmen, enjoying hunting and fishing. Mr. Lard never missed the University of Tennessee or the Tennessee Titans football games on TV, and knew details of every game. He loved conversation, always wanting to know if anyone had asked about him and staying on the bench at Wal-Mart striking up conversations.
Mr. Lard departed this life on Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at the age of 78 years, 11 months, 15 days.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 daughters, Dr. Janet Lard Cromwell of Savannah, Tennessee and Kim Collins of Mobile, Alabama; 2 sisters, Celia Godwin and Sadie Williams both of Savannah, Tennessee; 2 brothers, Dr. Curtis F. Lard of Bryan, Texas and Thomas Waymon Lard of Savannah, Tennessee; a grandson, Christopher Vinson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry Lard Vinson and a grandson, Jeremy J. Vinson.
