GREG MAYO
Henderson, TN: Gregory Kent Mayo age 54 passed away Thursday morning December 25, 2014 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
He was born December 1, 1960 in Linden, TN and grew up in Decaturville, the son of Larah Jean Box Mayo and the late Johnny Gilbert Mayo. He attended school in Decatur County at Riverside. He married Rhonda Plunk in 2001. He had worked as a heavy equipment operator in logging and the past 13 years as a mechanic and heavy equipment operator for Southern City Concrete in Jackson. He had owned and operated the “Body Shop” in Henderson for several years in the late 90’s.
He loved to work out at the gym and had participated in many body builder competitions in the area.
He loved to play the guitar, grew up playing the guitar in church and was extremely skilled in playing “by ear”.
Mr. Mayo is survived by his wife, Rhonda Plunk Mayo of Henderson and his mother, Larah Jean Box Mayo of Wildersville; two sons, John Mayo and wife Ashley and Daniel Mayo and wife Beth all of Henderson; two grandchildren, Mason Mayo and Damien Mayo and a sister, Penny Darlene Key of Wildersville.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Charles Ward and Welvon Mayo officiating and burial will follow in Pisgah Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Saturday.
