Gregory Keith Sweat was born on November 2, 1965, in Selmer, Tennessee, the son of the late Thomas D. Sweat and Melba J. Huckabee.

Gregory was a man who found joy in the simple things in life. He was a devoted fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and could often be found listening to his favorite hard rock music. He had a deep appreciation for the outdoors, especially time spent in the woods, where he felt most at peace. Above all, he dearly loved his family—especially his nieces and nephews, who held a special place in his heart. And, like many who knew him well would smile to remember, he never turned down a good Sonic burger.

Mr. Sweat departed this life on April 2, 2026, at the age of 60 years and 5 months.

He is survived by his brother, Jackie Murphy and wife Denise of Ramer, Tennessee; one nephew, Troy Neal Murphy, Jr. of Ramer, Tennessee; nieces, Dawn Brooks of Selmer, Tennessee, Stephanie Parsons of Corinth, Mississippi, and Danielle King and husband Jason of Selmer, Tennessee; along with a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, and even great-great-nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory.

In addition to his parents, Gregory was preceded in death by three brothes, Tony, Ricky, and Troy Neal Murphy; and a niece, Tina Nicole Murphy.
