Obituary

H. Ray Wilson was born on December 28, 1948, in Selmer, Tennessee, the son of the late Ramey Wilson and Cordie Kiser Wilson.

Ray was railroad through and through. For 38 years, he dedicated himself to a career on the railroad, a profession he was deeply proud of and one that became an important part of who he was. He treasured the friendships, memories, and experiences he gained throughout those years and never lost his love and appreciation for the railroad industry.

A man with a passion for preserving history, Ray devoted countless hours to genealogy research. He found great joy in documenting family histories, cleaning and caring for forgotten headstones, and honoring the lives of those who came before. His dedication to preserving memories led him to contribute thousands of photographs and memorials to FINDAGRAVE.COM, creating a lasting legacy that will benefit generations to come.

Above all else, Ray loved his family. His daughter, Terri, and his grandson, Walker, were the center of his world and the greatest blessings of his life. He never missed an opportunity to support Walker, faithfully attending sporting events, school programs, and special activities. With camera in hand, Ray could often be found recording every moment, making sure precious memories would never be forgotten. The pride and love he felt for his family were evident to all who knew him.

Mr. Wilson departed this life on May 30, 2026, in Eads, Tennessee, at the age of 77 years, 5 months, and 2 days.

He is survived by his beloved daughter, Terri Massengill and husband Bryan of Selmer, Tennessee; his cherished grandson, Walker Massengill of Selmer, Tennessee; three sisters, Judy Harris and husband Frank of Bethel Springs, Tennessee, Joyce Hill and husband Ricky of Bethel Springs, Tennessee, and Janie Jones and husband Paul of Gulf Breeze, Florida; a brother, Ramey Wilson, Jr. and wife Barbara of Bethel Springs, Tennessee; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends whose lives were enriched by his kindness, devotion, and friendship.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Paul Wilson; and very special grandparents, Hubert and Hallie Kiser.

Though his earthly journey has ended, the memories Ray preserved, the history he cherished, and the love he shared with his family will remain a lasting testament to a life well lived. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
