Harold Burgess, 78, of Middleton, passed away early Sunday morning, September 20, 2020 at Baptist Reynolds Hospice House in Collierville.
A native of Hardeman County, Mr. Burgess was the son of the late Allen Hyman Burgess and Jessie Ruth Capshaw Burgess. He is also preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Ann Murray; and a son-in-law, Jimmy Vaughn.
A faithful member of the church of Christ, he was a mechanic by trade and had served as both service and parts manager in his career. His family characterized him as "Mr. Fix-It" when it came to needing anything repaired. A friend to all, many remember his giving the "best hugs ever" and his firm handshake. In his leisure time, he enjoyed gardening, woodworking, fishing, hunting, stock-car racing, but loved his family most of all.
He leaves his wife of 58 years, Genetia Lamberth Burgess of Middleton; three daughters, Carmen (Jackie) Stringfellow of Memphis, Cindy (Mark) Owens of Collierville, and Carla Vaughn of Middleton; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren with "one-on-the-way".
