Harold Douglas Cox was born March 5, 1942 in Hornsby, TN, the son of the late John Grover Cox and Ottie Lucile King Cox.
Harold was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Vickers on August 16, 1963. He served our country in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Selmer, Tennessee and also attended Stantonville United Methodist Church. He also was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion.
Farming, tractors, swinging on the front porch, planting trees, and being outside were among Harold's favorite pastimes. He was a gun enthusiast, and also enjoyed watching the history channel, studying the Bible, Friday morning breakfast with friends and spending time with family.
Mr. Cox departed this life on August 4, 2020 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 78 Years, 4 Months, 30 Days.
He is survived by his wife Ruth Ann Cox of Selmer, TN; a son, Michael D. Cox and wife Cheryl of Jackson, TN; a daughter, Elizabeth Overton and husband Lee of Selmer, TN; four grandchildren: Emily Cox, Maggie Overton, Will Overton and Jackson Overton.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Cox was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother.
