Mr. Harold Gene Mayes of Saulsbury departed this life at the age of 54 years, 8 months, and 18 days May 23, 2012 at Bolivar General Hospital.
Mr. Mayes was born in Middleton on September 5, 1957 to the late Bilbo and Nora Pauline Wilkerson Mayes. He worked as a self-employed construction worker and also worked on a farm with Jesse Hall. Among his hobbies, he loved to garden and ride horses, and also enjoyed flowers. He was a member of the Saulsbury Baptist Church.
He leaves as his survivors, his wife, Janice B. Ward of Saulsbury; two sisters, Bonnie Johnson of Saulsbury and Paula McAlpin of Jonesboro, Arkansas; and two brothers, Ralph Mayes of Saulsbury and Bobby Mayes of Memphis. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, J. C. Mayes, who passed away May 2, 2010.
