On Monday, March 18, 2024, the world lost a beloved soul as Harold Wayne Pope passed away in Waynesboro, TN. Harold was born on February 21, 1947. He was a member of Phillips Chapel Church and proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Harold was a member of the Tennessee Cattleman’s Association, served on the Board of Directors for the Bank of Waynesboro, and worked at Wayne Farmers Co-op for over 50 years, serving as manager from 1992 until he retired. In his free time, he enjoyed going to the sale barn, farming, fishing, and spending time with his family and grandkids.
Harold is survived by his wife of 54 years, Eva Jean Dickey Pope; sons, Bryan Pope (Joy Beth), and Bart Pope (Amy), and daughter Jennifer Morris (Jason); brothers, Willard Dee Pope, Randy Pope, Dwight Pope; sister, Helen Horton Melson; grandchildren, Lily Pope, Ruby Pope, Jake Pope, Haley Sanders (Evan), Braden Morris, Boston Pope, Brandon Pope, Grace Dollar (Ben), Reyna Prince, Star Prince, Braxton Butler; great-grandchild, Leia Vivienne Dollar.
He is now reunited with his parents, Rubie (Red) Pope and Lois Pulley Pope; and daughter-in-law, Lindsay Mathis Pope.
The visitation for Harold Pope will be at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Waynesboro, TN, on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The funeral service will be held at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Waynesboro, TN, on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Joel Wallace officiating.
Interment will be at Wayne County Memorial Gardens in Waynesboro.
