HAZEL ROLAND MELTON
Henderson, TN: Hazel Margaret Roland Melton age 93 passed away Thursday morning March 8, 2018 at the West TN Veterans Home at Humboldt.
She was born August 11, 1924 in the Montezuma Community, the daughter of the late Allen Heniard and Nora Louise Hall Roland. She had a stepmother, Annie Ward Roland. She went to school in Chester County and married Thomas Melton in 1943 of the Sweetlips community. They made their home in Henderson. She worked as a cook at Henderson Elementary for several years. She was a homemaker and caregiver for her husband Thomas. Mr. Melton passed away in 1986.
She was a member of the Antioch Baptist church where she taught Sunday school. She loved gospel music, read her bible and was a devoted Christian. She also loved to cook.
Mrs. Melton is survived by a son, Jimmy Melton (Judy) of Jackson and a daughter, Margaret Melton
Stumph (Charles Jr.) of Bartlett; five grandchildren, Jason T. Stumph (Denise), Derek W. Stumph (Jennifer), Chris Melton (Heather), Jennifer Spence (Dave), and Tammy Anderson (Blake) and great grandchildren, Taylor Stumph, Morgan Stumph, Cameron Stumph, Reagan Stumph, Caleb Stumph, Gideon Stumph, Jonah Stumph, Luke Melton, Katy Melton, Sydney Spence and Ramsey Spence.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Thomas M. Melton in 1986.
Funeral services will be 2 pm Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue, with Charles Ward and Ronnie Geary officiating. Burial will follow in Chester County Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue at 6 pm to 9 pm on Saturday and from 12 noon until 2 pm on Sunday.
