Mrs. Hazel Foster Newton Hurley died Sunday morning, May 29, 2016 at her home near Saulsbury, TN.
She was born on March 18, 1922, in Saulsbury and was a native and life-long resident of the area. The daughter of the late William F. and Lucille McCommon Foster, she was the widow of Thomas J. Newton (died: July 29, 1997), to whom she was married 58 years; and in November, 1999, she married James Edwin Hurley (died: July 13, 2006). She was a long time member of the Grand Junction Church of Christ. Mrs. Hurley was a homemaker who loved gardening, quilting, crocheting, embroidering, sewing, and cooking for her family and friends. Anyone who visited never left empty handed. Her goal in life was to be like Jesus - she certainly met her goal.
Mrs. Hazel is survived by her sisters, Ruby Callahan of Hickory Valley, Betty Rogers of Saulsbury, Barbara Hall of Middleton, and Martha Fendley of Rogers, Arkansas; two brothers, Warren Foster of Saulsbury and Donald Foster of Lakeland; and one great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she is preceded in death by a son, Charles Thomas Newton; a sister, Inez Foster; two brothers, Billy and Franklin Foster; and a grandson, Randall.
