Helen Coffman

Helen Coffman, a beloved member of the community, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026, in Jackson, Tennessee. Born on May 7, 1941, in Ramer, Tennessee, Helen lived a long and meaningful life, characterized by deep faith, devotion to family, and a commitment to serving others.

Helen spent most of her life in the close-knit communities of Hornsby and Middleton, where her warmth, integrity, and kindness became well known. As a bookkeeper and accountant with the Hardeman County Board of Education for over 50 years, Helen dedicated her professional life to supporting education and ensuring the smooth operation of local schools. Her attention to detail and tireless work ethic earned her the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends, leaving a legacy that will not be forgotten.

Helen was a Christian in faith, guiding her life by principles of compassion, generosity, and humility. She deeply cherished time spent with her late husband, Al Coffman, especially recalling their younger years dancing together at square dances. Helen’s love for conversation and her sociable spirit meant she never met a stranger—her infectious enthusiasm and genuine interest in others endeared her to all whom she encountered. In more recent years, she enjoyed going out to eat, always treasuring the joy of sharing meals and stories with loved ones.

Helen is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Kirk, and her sister-in-law, Vallie Parker. Her nieces, Marcia Woods (Gary), Deborah Herrman (Marty), Brenda Caldwell (Robert), as well as her nephews Mike Parker (Karen), along with several great nephews, also survive her, each holding special memories and a deep appreciation for her presence in their lives. Helen leaves behind a close-knit and devoted family, whose lives she enriched through her care and love.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Al Coffman; her mother, Arah Mildred Davis Parker; her father, James Bishop Parker; her step-father, Eura Kirk; and her brother, Leonard Parker. Their memories remain an enduring part of Helen's heart and legacy.

Friends and family are invited to gather in memory of Helen at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Middleton, Tennessee. Visitation will be held on August 7, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Center Hill Cemetery, 1187 Damon Road in Counce, Tennessee, at 4:00 p.m. on the same day.

Helen Coffman’s gentle spirit, unwavering kindness, and lifetime of quiet accomplishment will be fondly remembered by all whose lives she touched.
