Helen Smith Bowden Tirey

Helen Smith Bowden Tirey departed this life on Sunday, December 20, 2015, at the age of 80 years, 5 months, 14 days. She was born in Lauderdale County, Alabama on July 6, 1935, the daughter of the late Otti and Susie Terry Smith. On February 10, 2006, she was united in marriage to Paul Cortez Tirey, who preceded her in death on June 4, 2014.

Helen had worked at Tennessee River Inc. as a sewing machine operator and was a member of the Pride Baptist Church in Tuscumbia, Alabama. She loved her plants, gardening, and making crafts.

She is survived by her son, Marty Bowden; stepson, Jeff Tirey; adopted daughter, Rhonda Crow; nine grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren; brothers, Dick Smith, Rollin Smith, Jr. Smith, and Ray Smith; and a sister, Beddie Smith.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sons, James Bowden and Roger Bowden; brothers, Hoss, Bill, Delmer, and James Smith; sisters, Dollie Mae Smith and Frances Smith.
