William Henry Moore of Bolivar died Tuesday, June 3, 2014 after a short battle with colorectal cancer, at Pine Meadows Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, Bolivar at the age of 87.
Born November 2, 1926 to the late Simon and Ida Bailey Moore, Mr. Moore was a retired business owner and had lived the majority of his life in Hardeman County. He married Helen Russell on September 20, 1947. She preceded him in death on March 21, 2012. Mr. Moore was well-known by friends and family for his love of exotic animals, especially monkeys and was a great storyteller and prankster. He was a very giving and unselfish person who loved nothing better than helping his family without asking and surprising them with many acts of kindness.
He leaves his daughter, Rita (Raymond) Blackard of Palm Coast, FL; two sons, Mike (Lora) Moore of Bolivar; Terry (Rhonda) Moore of Medon; seven grandchildren, Heather Turner, Amber Warner, Ashley Blackard, Erin Smith, Molly Moore, Colton Moore; two step-grandchildren, Clint (Terri) and Drew Moore; ten great-grandchildren, Jessica and Hunter Smith, Landon Hart, Karlee Plunk, Colby Turner, Bailey Caviness, Dayton Tharp, Tate Warner, Skylann Allen, Shelby Smith; four step-great-grandchildren, Lacey and Kaycee Pickett, Linzi and Cameron Moore; and a brother, Ruble (Bobbie) Moore of Phenix City, AL.
He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Melissa Blackard Martin and Jason Moore; six sisters and two brothers.
Graveside services for family and friends will be Thursday, June 5, 11 am at Shandy Baptist Church. Memorials may be sent to the charity of choice.
