Herbert Brooks Williams, Jr. was born on June 9, 1930 in Corinth, Mississippi, the late Herbert Brooks Williams, Sr. and Mattie Elizabeth King Williams.
On November 2, 1978, he was united in marriage to Barbara Jean Spears, who survives.
Mr. Williams retired from King Manufacturing in Corinth, Mississippi, where he worked with his uncle, Hugh King. He loved listening to and playing Bluegrass music. He played with The Pickwick Fisherman Bluegrass Band, along with his brother, Roy. They performed regularly on WCMA Radio in Corinth and the Buddy Bain Show. He was the mandolin player for Leola Mills and the Keys of Bluegrass for many years and performed throughout the region at Bluegrass festivals. Herbert was a licensed airplane pilot and loved trains and the railroad. He had the hobby of model train railroading for years. Mr. Williams was a member of Oak Hill Christian Church in Corinth, Mississippi.
Herbert Brooks Williams, Jr. departed this life on Sunday, August 31, 2025 in Savannah, Tennessee, at the age of 95 years, 2 months, and 22 days.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Jean Spears Williams of Savannah, Tennessee; daughter, Lisa DeVore Stricklin of Savannah, Tennessee; brothers, Ben Williams of Booneville, Mississippi and Steve Williams (Sheryl) of Memphis, Tennessee; sisters, Jane Osborn of Parker, Colorado and Linda Hamedani (Dan) of Monticello, Florida; granddaughter, Amber Brooke Stricklin Barnhill; and great grandchildren, Caden Barnhill, Levi Barnhill, and Mason Barnhill.
In addition to his parents, Herbert was preceded in death by his brothers, Bill Williams, Roy Williams, and Pat Williams and sister, Mary Ann Williams.
