Mr. Vickers passed away Wednesday morning at Bolivar General Hospital.
The husband of Katie Vickers, who survives, he was a sawmiller, working at H.B. Vickers and Son Lumber Company. He was born in Hardeman County, son of the late William Wright Vickers and Ruth Hicks Vickers and lived all of his life here. Mr. Vickers was a Christian, having been baptized by James Howell at Brints Chapel Church on July 27, 1957.
In addition to his wife, whom he married on September 9, 1944, survivors include a son and his wife, William & Doris Vickers of Middleton; a daughter and her husband, Linda and Houston Kirk of Middleton; five grandchildren, Barbara Maloy, Kenneth Vickers, Laura Downing, Michael Kirk and John Kirk; and eight grandchildren, Kristy, Racheal and Thomas Maloy, Joshua and Dylan McQueen, Sidney Downing, Matthew, Megan and John Clifton Kirk; and a brother, Arthur Vernon Vickers of Middleton. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ina Mae Pipkin and four brothers, Parnell, Roy, Alfred and Jimmy Vickers.
