Howard D. Ross, age 90, of Houston Smith Road, Iron City, TN died Sunday, July 26, 2009 at Wayne County Nursing Home. Mr. Ross, a native of Omaha, Nebraska, was born September 29, 1918 to Frank Ross and Leva Troen Ross. On May 24, 1946, he was married to Muriel Rockdale Ross who survives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son John D. Ross. Mr. Ross served in the U.S. Marine Corps, retiring as a master sergeant after 27 years of service. As a veteran, Mr. Ross served in World War II, where he was a prisoner of war in Japan for 4 years, and also served in the Korean Conflict.After his retirement from military service he was employed at Disney World as a wood carver.Survivors other than his wife Muriel, include sons, Howard Ross of Iron City and Ron Hanna of Las Vegas, Nevada; and a grandson, Howard Glenn RossMr. Ross was cremated.The last place he resided was Wayne County Nursing Home. This was a place he truly loved. The people there were so good to him. Thank you from the Ross family.
