Howard Sandage

John Howard Sandage passed away on May 2, 2017 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, TN. Born in Gillett, AR October 16, 1941, the son of Otis and Elizabeth Bennett Sandage who preceded him in death. He leaves behind a wife who adored him, Patti of Middleton, TN, a sister, Mary Lou Wallace of Little Rock AR and a brother, Charles Otis Sandage of Oak Island, NC. Also left behind are numerous nieces and nephews.

Howard was a graduate of UAM in Monticello, AR. He worked for the Travelers Insurance Co. which took him to St. Louis, MO and Hartford, CT., before moving to Memphis, TN. In 1982, he purchased Marx and Bensdorf Insurance Co. in Memphis, TN. He sold the company and retired in 1991. In retirement, he fulfilled his dream of country living in Middleton, TN. where he enjoyed raising his cattle, horses and a menagerie of additional animals.

Throughout his life, Howard had a love for outdoor activities. He showed and raised Racking horses for years, ran his dogs in field trials, and loved to garden. He enjoyed fishing at the farm and watching the local wildlife. Howard's greatest gift was his generous soul, and kind and loving heart. He will be missed by numerous friends and extended family.

The family requests that memorials be sent to Hardeman Adoptable Animals, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
