Hugh Wadkins Blackwelder was born on January 15, 1921, in Hardin County, Tennessee, the son of the late Tone E. and Daisy Meadows Blackwelder. On April 18, 1946, he was united in marriage to Ina Kate Cagle, who preceded him in death on August 27, 1986.
Mr. Blackwelder lived his entire life in the Cerro Gordo Community. He served his country in the United States Army and afterwards he worked for the Hardin County Highway Department, and as a bus driver for Hardin County Schools and also for the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier. He was a member of the New Harmony Baptist Church. Mr. Blackwelder loved his family, his church family and he loved to fish.
Mr. Blackwelder departed this life on December 9, 2013, at the age of 92 years, 10 months and 24 days.
He is survived by a daughter, Jennie Blackwelder of Savannah, Tennessee; three brothers, James Parker (Peck) Blackwelder, J. E. (Tuff) Blackwelder and Dan Blackwelder; one sister, Margaret Northcutt.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Ina Kate Cagle Blackwelder, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Vaughn T. Blackwelder, Bert Blackwelder, Burnace Blackwelder and Tommy Blackwelder; and two sisters, Imogene Polk and Sarah Evans.
