David 'Shorty' Harris

DAVID “SHORTY” HARRIS

Luray, TN: Hugh “Shorty” David Harris, age 75 passed away May 30, 2023, at his home.

He was born in Lexington, TN February 6, 1948, son of the late Vann David and Katherine Vestal Harris.

He grew up in the Luray and Mifflin communities and was salutatorian of the 1966 graduating class at Beech Bluff High School.

Mr. Harris was a self-employed farmer, landscaper, and logger. He was active in his community and in his church at Mifflin Baptist.

He was a huge U.T. Knoxville fan especially baseball and softball.

He loved his family and enjoyed life.

He is survived by two sons, Tracy Harris (Emily) of Luray, TN and Ryan Harris (Christy) of Jackson, TN; daughter, Kasey Harris of Nashville, TN; sister, Suzanne Harris of Clifton, TN; five grandchildren, Raven Cox, Kearstin Harris, Thomas Harris, Ely Harris, and LacyAnn Harris; and son-in-law, Tony Perry of Jackson, TN.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Robynn Perry; brother, Ray Harris; and sister, Camille Mosier.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday June 3, 2023, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel with Bro. Dennis Renshaw officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday.
