Hugh C. Luna

Hugh C. Luna of Cordova passed away on Friday, August 11, 2023, at The Langford of Collierville. He was born on September 2, 1931, in Walnut, MS, to parents, the late Erskine Vaughn Luna and Minnie Curle Luna.

Hugh had a successful career that spanned several decades. He began his professional journey working for Reynolds Aluminum in the 1950s and 1960s moving on to Evans Products. Ultimately, he became the president of American-Pacific Paneling in Holly Springs, MS.

Mr. Luna was a loving and supportive family man. Those who were fortunate enough to know him will always cherish the memories they have of him.  His son's wife, Sheila, described him as the best father-in-law a daughter-in-law could have.

He had a passion for building and refurbishing wood furniture, taking great pride in creating pieces that showcased his craftsmanship and attention to detail. When he wasn't busy in his workshop, Mr. Luna enjoyed spending time on the lake in his ski-boat, indulging in his love for hunting, fishing, and camping alongside his beloved family.

As a young man, Hugh served in the US Army during the Korean War after his graduation from Walnut (MS) High School.  As a youth, he had been a member of Harmony Baptist Church at Walnut.

Mr. Luna was the husband of Mickey McKee Luna for 68 years prior to her passing just three days before him on Tuesday, August 8, 2023.

Hugh is survived by his children Cheryl McClarty of Oakland, MS, and Ronnie (Sheila) Luna of Mt. Pleasant, MS. He leaves behind his grandchildren, Mandy Khan, Ashley Luna, Craig McClarty, great-grandchildren McKenna Stonecipher, Luke Khan, and Elizabeth Khan, and an adopted sister, Inez Otten, and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death, also, by his brothers, Vaughn Jr., Vernon and Joe Luna.
