Hugh Wesson "Wes" Yancey

June 11, 1969 — June 11, 2025

Morris Chapel

Wes was born June 11, 1969 to the late Dr. Jim Yancey and Java Yancey of Adamsville, Tennessee. The Lord called Wes home to be with him on June 11, 2025.

During Wes's life he worked for General Electric, now ABB, in Selmer, Tennessee for 29 years, as a DJ at Q105 in Selmer, Tennessee, and Savannah Foods in Savannah, Tennessee.

Wes was a member of Morris Chapel Baptist Church. Wes was also a die hard UT Vols fan, you hardly ever seen Wes without him sporting something orange. He also loved the New York Yankees. He even turned his mother in law Jane, who Wes lovingly referred to as Mom, into a sports fan. They would watch almost every game together. He also had a love for outdoors, riding his motorcycle or you were liable to see him and Angie anywhere in there side by side. He also enjoyed shooting pool and old cars.

Wes was also a family man who loved his children and was always there to encourage and cheer them on in sports, school, and any life achievements. He loved to coach youth ball teams and was an inspiration to all who knew him.

Wes is survived by his wife Angie McCullough Thompson Yancey of Morris Chapel, Tennessee; his children, Jamie Yancey and wife Kelsey of Selmer, Tennessee, Mary Logan Yancey Tidwell and husband Jake of Boone, North Carolina, Shaun Mullins and wife Amy of Henderson, Tennessee, and Justin Thompson of Bristol, Tennessee; one sister, Candice Garrison of Stantonville, Tennessee; two nephews; one niece; and two great nieces. He also leaves behind a host of cousins and friends to cherish the many precious memories.

Wes was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Denise Gage Yancey.

If Wes could leave any of us with a message he would tell everyone to enjoy everyday of your life like it is your last. And he did just that.
