Henderson, TN: Hughie Edward Fowler, age 86, passed away January 21, 2010 at his home.
He was born and reared at Beech Bluff, the son of the late William Curry and Fannie Myrtle Grisham Fowler. He attended schools at Beech Bluff and farmed as a young man. He entered the U.S. Army in 1943 and served in the Headquarters Battery of the 398th Anti Aircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons Battalion and served in Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe and returned in 1946.
He made his home in the Beech Bluff Community and farmed and worked with Murphy Tractor and later he owned the Massey Ferguson Tractor Dealership in Henderson. He had also owned and operated Quality Motors in Jackson and Fowlers Pawn Shop in Humboldt from where he retired. He was married to JoAnn Goodwin Anderson in 1974.
They made their home in Beech Bluff until they moved to Chester County. He was a member of the Maple Springs Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife; JoAnn Goodwin Fowler of Henderson; two sons, Tim Fowler and Dr. Rex Fowler and wife Glenda all of Jackson; a daughter, Jan Perry and husband Jamie of Nashville and two step daughters, Sherry Fletcher and husband Jerry of Henderson and Tammy Taylor and husband Thomas of Clanton, AL and a step son, Jason Anderson of Henderson; 14 Grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; a brother, Bennie Fay Fowler and wife Sue of Birmingham, AL.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Haskle Ray Fowler.
