Imogene Brewer Hill

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Imogene Brewer Hill, who departed this life at the age of 96 on December 26, 2025 surrounded by her family. She was born on August 22, 1929, in the Eagle Creek community near Waynesboro, TN and grew up on a farm in that community. She was the daughter of Charlie Leonard and Bertha Elizabeth (Throgmorton) Brewer.

Imogene's journey through life was marked by love and dedication. On January 27, 1951, she married Everett Lee Hill,at West Side Baptist church in Corinth, MS. Everett preceded her in death on July 11, 1983. As the oldest member of the Collinwood First Baptist Church, she faithfully attended (anytime the doors were open) for an impressive 74 years where she served as a Sunday School teacher and the Church Clerk embodying the spirit of service to the Lord. She also prepared many dishes for church fellowships and fed Sunday dinners to numerous preachers and visiting evangalists that visited the Hill home. Imogene was also a devoted member of the Collinwood Home Demonstration Club for over 50 years.


A proud graduate of the Frank Hughes High School Class of 1948, Imogene started her career as a teacher at a one room schoolhouse, teaching all eight grades on Forty-Eight Creek before joining the General Shoe Company in Waynesboro, and later serving as a study hall teacher at Collinwood High School. Her passion for nurturing others extended beyond her profession, evident in the joy she found in crocheting, quilting, crafting, and tending to her beloved flower garden that she loved to talk about with anyone who stopped to visit.


Imogene leaves behind a loving family, including her son Jimmy Hill and beloved daughter-in-law Pam; grandchildren: Alice Marie, Andrew Douglas (Julie), Jenny Lee, Chad Everett (Faith), and Molly Elizabeth Hill; great-grandchildren, Marisa, Eli, Talmadge, Elsie, Eila, Ellis, and Everett; very, special family friend, Katy Wright, who was the daughter she always wanted and numerous nieces and nephews.


Imogene was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Lee Hill; son, Charles Douglas Hill; parents, Charlie Leonard and Bertha Elizabeth (Throgmorton) Brewer; maternal grandparents, John Franklin and Ella Jane (Kilburn) Throgmorton; paternal grandparents, George W. and Mary Jane (Brewer) Brewer; and siblings, Virginia Ray (Alton), Marjorie Allen (Thomas), Jane Evelyn Brewer, and Jerry Lou Moore (Rex).

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 2, 2026 from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm service time at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Collinwood, TN.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 2, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Shackelford Funeral Directors Chapel in Collinwood, TN. Jenny Hill will deliver the eulogy and her pastor, Bro, David Byrd will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens in Collinwood, TN.

Serving as pallbearers will be Andy Hill, Chad Hill, Roger Hill, Buddy Hill, Grant Daniel and Dustin Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Great Grandsons


Eli Hill, Talmadge Hall, Everett Hill, special friends Billy Wade Lay and Larry Wright.




In honor of Imogene’s legacy, the family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Collinwood First Baptist Church or to the Butterfly Foundation in her memory. Imogene Brewer Hill's spirit will forever live on in the hearts of all those who knew and loved her
