Imogene Cox Evans departed this life on September 3, 2016 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 89 Years, 9 Months, 21 Days. She was born November 13, 1926 the daughter of the late H. A. (Tobe) Cox and Elta Halbrook Cox. She was united in marriage to Lenard Earl Evans on May 25, 1946 having celebrated their seventieth anniversary this year.
Mrs. Evans was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. She was retired from Brown Shoe Company in Selmer and a member of the Boot & Shoe Workers Union. She was a member of the Order Of The Eastern Star at the F & A M Purdy Lodge #132 in Bethel Springs.
She is survived by her husband Lenard Earl Evans of Selmer, TN; a son, Dennis Earl Evans and wife Lyn of Fairlawn, OH; two grandchildren, Christopher Evans and Kari Evans-Latz and husband Allan; a brother, Hugh Wayne Cox; three sisters-in-law, Jean Cox, Reba Cox, and Doris Cox along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mrs.Evans was preceded in death by three brothers, R. P. Cox, James Cox, and most recently Leon Cox.
