J. S. Allen

J. S. Allenwas born in Hardin County, Tennessee on November 9, 1926 the son of the late John and Alma Dickey Allen.On March 24, 1957 he was united in marriage to Bobbie D. Allen, who preceded him in death on December 20, 1999.Mr. Allen was a store owner and operator for all of his working life, he was the third generation store owner of Allen's Grocery in Saltillo, Tennessee. He enjoyed the Tennessee River and talking with friends. He was a history buff and was in public service for over 60 years. He was a member of the Saltillo United Methodist Church, Mayor of Saltillo for 30 years, President of Saltillo Utility District, Woodmen of the World, Savannah Hospital Board, and the Freemasons.Mr. Allen departed this life on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at the age of 84 years, 3 months, 8 days.He is survived by a cousin, Frank Beard of Atlanta, Georgia.
