Henderson, TN: Joseph Eldridge (J.E.) Blankenship departed this life January 10, 2011 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
He was born December 9, 1929 to David Allen and Ethel White Blankenship. J.E. grew up in the Montezuma community and attended Chester County schools. He married Emma Jean Plunk on May 22, 1949. After attending Moler Barber College, he joined his father and operated Blankenship’s Barber Shop for 24 years in Henderson, TN. He retired from Turner Diary after 20 years and worked part time for Chester County Waste Disposal Center.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Henderson, where he served as greeter and usher and was 50 year member of the Henderson Masonic Lodge #485.
J.E. Loved his golf games with friends, hunting, fishing, working in his garden and in his younger days skiing on the Tennessee River.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Emma, Daughters, Annette (Ted) Springer of Talladega, AL and Sherry (Tommy) Davis of Henderson, TN, Grandchildren, Jennifer Dickson of Hoover, AL, Tasha (Heath) Heinze of Birmingham, AL, Zachary (Jennifer) Mullins of Knoxville, TN, Tommy Springer of Birmingham, AL, and Joshua Davis of Henderson, TN.
Great Grandchildren, Cole Heinze, Elle Heinze and Maddox Springer of Birmingham, AL; a sister, Louise (W.N.) Griffin of Henderson, TN, Nephews, Alan (Sandy) Griffin of Snowflake, AZ and Gary (Lonna) Griffin of Hobbs, NM.
