J. Ernest Hardin

J. Ernest Hardin was born on July 31, 1931, in Hornsby, Tennessee, to the late Isaac and Jessie Jernigan Hardin. He peacefully departed this life on December 5, 2025, at the age of 94 years, in Finger, Tennessee.

Mr. Hardin was united in marriage to C. Ramelle Miller on April 19, 1951. Their bond flourished for nearly 70 years until her passing on January 31, 2021. Together, they created a loving family and a legacy of kindness.

Mr. Hardin served his country with honor in the United States Army for 20 years, serving in both the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. His dedication and bravery earned him numerous accolades, including the Bronze Star, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, Purple Heart, Korean Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Overseas Service Bars, and other distinguished honors.

After his military retirement, he transitioned to a career as a mechanic and was an active member of the Bethel Springs Church of Christ, where he contributed to his community and shared his faith.

Mr. Hardin is survived by his three daughters, Melinda Winbush and husband Mike, Laurel Vigil and husband Mike, and Tracy Hardin, all of Finger, TN; his son, Keith Hardin and wife Penny, also of Finger, TN; along with five grandchildren, Gerald Boyd Jr. and wife Melva, Keith Hardin, Christopher Hardin, Tony Vigil, and Matthew Vigil; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to his beloved wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kimberly Bizzell; and several siblings: Marvin, Marshall, Odell, Aletha, Thelma, Virginia, Otto, Lily, and Ruby.

Mr. Hardin's life was a testament to service, love, and devotion, and he will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
