J. L. Cummings



was born December 13, 1924 in Savannah, Tennessee the son of the late James Lawson and Mary Blanch Adams Cummings.



On December 31, 1950, he was united in marriage to Jessie Mae Middleton, who survives.



Mr. Cummings was a member of the Olive Hill Community. He had been employed with Brown Shoe Company, Lowe Saw Mill, and the Paper Mill. He had also been self employed buying and selling small machinery, and was a moonshiner. He enjoyed reading, telling stories of the past, and family gatherings. Mr. Cummings also enjoyed being outdoors, working on his tractors, and collecting antique machinery.



Mr. Cummings departed this life on June 15, 2011 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 86 Years, 6 Months, 2 Days.



In addition to his wife, Jessie Mae (Middleton) Cummings of Savannah, Tennessee, he is survived by, three daughters, Judy Neill and husband Jack, Betty Wilson and husband Ricky, Sheila Collier and husband Winford all of Savannah, Tennessee; nine grandchildren, Josh Young, Jason Young, Charity Neill, Jonathan Neill, Shane Collier, Samantha Harville, Christina Johnson, Ricky Cummings, Jamie Cummings; 8 great grandchildren and 1 on the way; two sisters, Thelma Doyle and Blanche Burgess both of Savannah, Tennessee.



In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Cummings and his brother, Douglas Cummings.
