J W JOHNSON

Henderson, TN: J W Johnson age 92 passed away June 10, 2015 at his home.

He was born December 13, 1922 in Decatur County, the son of the late Floyd and Maynard Creasy Johnson. He attended schools in Decatur County and entered the U. S. Army. He served in Germany and the occupation of Japan. He married Jewell Lee in 1944. He farmed as a young man and operated a grocery store at Deanburg 1952-1961. He and his brothers Talmo and O.C. owned and operated the Massey Ferguson Implement Dealership. They lived in the Plainview community where he was in the small engine business. He was an excellent mechanic in the implement field and later in small engine repair.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Jewell Lee Johnson of Henderson; three sons, James Johnson and wife Linda, Jimmy Johnson and Jerry Johnson all of Henderson; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren; a brother, Talmo Johnson of Henderson and a sister, Tavy Priddy of Nashville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Joe Johnson in 1997, a brother, O.C. Johnson and a sister, Avious Johnson

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday June 12, 2015 at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Mike Cothren officiating and burial will follow in Faith Baptist Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday.
