Henderson: Jack Leo Gregory, age 84, died September 15, 2009 at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin, TN.
He was born in Alto Pass, IL the son of the late John Jack and Edna Mangrum Gregory. He attended schools in Southern Illinois.
He served in the 101st Airborne of the United States Army during WWII. He was at Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge. The 101st Airborne held Bastogne until Patton’s Third Army arrived. Mr. Gregory was injured at the Battle of the Bulge.
He was married to Dorothy May Ludwig in 1947. They made their home in Clearwater, FL most of their married life. Mr. Gregory worked in hotel management for various hotels. In particular he had managed the Statler Hilton Hotel in St. Louis, MO. They moved to Chester County in 1987. Mrs. Gregory died in 2004. He had made his home at Southern Oaks for the past 6 months.
He is survived by two sons; James R. Gregory and wife Marie of Chattanooga, TN and Steven V. Gregory and wife Sandra of Riverview, FL and a daughter; Sharon Brown of Largo, FL; 3 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife; Dorothy May Ludwig Gregory in 2004.
