Jack Johnson

November 28, 1919 — September 15, 2011

He was born in Chester County the son of the late Brodie J. “Tot” and Cecil Johnson. He graduated from Chester County High School in 1935 and attended Freed Hardeman College for one year. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1941 and saw service flying as a flight crewmember with Patrol Bomber squadrons in the Pacific Theater. He was discharged in 1945. He married the late Mildrid Fields Johnson in 1946. Mr. Johnson was an employee and later a partner in Bolton Esso Products and later Johnson and Clayton Exxon. He also owned Henderson Trucking Company. He joined the U.S. Navy Reserve in 1946 and was active until his retirement as a Chief Petty Officer in 1979. He retired from Johnson and Clayton Exxon in 1986. He married Irene Huffman in 1998 she passed away Feb. 25, 2011.



Mr. Johnson was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Henderson, the Fleet Reserve Association, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and the Masonic Lodge.



He is survived by a daughter, Pamela Johnson of Jackson, TN and a son, Dennis Jack Johnson (Kathy) of Henderson, TN; two granddaughters, Kate Goodwin (David) of Memphis, TN and Celia Lighthall (Ricky) of Brewster, NY and one great granddaughter, Lucy Goodwin of Memphis, TN.
