Jack W. Pitts



was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on February 18, 1929 the son of the late Elisha Frank and Bertha Parrott Pitts.



On December 24, 1953 he was united in marriage to Peggy Hosea, who survives.



Mr. Pitts was Heavy Equipment Operator (Bull Dozer) for the Hardin County Road Commission. He had previously worked at B & B Construction in Adamsville, Yeiser Chevrolet in Savannah, and McCaa Chevrolet in West Memphis, Arkansas. He was a self-taught musician, playing bass steel, rhythm, and the piano. He was a member of The Dixieland Band, The Crusaders, and The Pitts Family. He was an animal lover, dogs being his favorite. He had a fondness for the Harbour-Pitts Store, where he grew up and enjoyed spending time there. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Savannah Mason Lodge #102, and was an Army Veteran serving in the Korean War.



Mr. Pitts departed this life on Thursday, July 2, 2009 at the age of 80 years, 4 months, 14 days.



In addition to his wife, Mr. Pitts is survived by 2 daughters, Marcia Tedford and husband David of Savannah, Tennessee, Madelyn Keith and husband Maxie of Clarkedale, Arkansas ; a sister, Ella Joe Hinton of Knoxville, Tennessee; a granddaughter, Leslie Ann Roberts; several nieces and nephews.



In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Frankie Falls; a brother, Archie N. Pitts.
