Jackie Stanley Hutton

September 23, 1944 — August 5, 2020

Known far and wide for her beautiful smile, kindness, unfailing faith in Christ, and frequent gifts to anyone in need of her much anticipated sourdough bread, beloved Jackie Stanley Hutton died peacefully at her home on August 5, 2020. She was 75 years old, and lived an exemplary life by any standard or measurement.

Born in Adamsville, Tennessee in 1944 to Jim Frank and Faye Stanley, Jackie was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church of Adamsville. In high school, Jackie fell for the love of her life, Roy Hutton. They were happily married for 57 years, from 1962 until her death.

Loyal to the core, Jackie worked for the Piggly Wiggly for 31 years. In fact, and with all due respect to the company’s well-known advertising logo, many long-standing customers considered Jackie to be the always smiling face of Adamsville’s Piggly Wiggly.

Jackie will be remembered for her devotion to family, her strong Church and community involvement, her deep-seated embodiment of service above self, and to those fortunate enough to live near Jackie and Roy’s house, the most beautiful flowers and plants in the neighborhood. She had a remarkable impact on the small town where she lived her entire life; the town that she loved so much. No longer will Jackie be seen watering her flowers, volunteering at her Church, or joyfully welcoming customers at Piggly Wiggly; her prized recipe for sourdough bread passes with her. She has been welcomed through the portal of heaven by her maker, who inspired such a rich and meaningful 75 years on this earth.

Matthew 25:23, “His Lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.”

Jackie is survived by her husband, Roy Hutton; their children and spouses, Blane and Tee Hutton of Adamsville TN; Michele and Jim Rodgers of Dallas TX, her sisters and spouses, Frankie and Joe Hill of Selmer TN; Kim and Rick Berry of Savannah TN; as well as four grandchildren: Taylor Hutton, Gracie Hutton, Megan Rodgers and Nicole Rodgers and one great grandchild, Esther Hutton. She is also survived by an aunt, Bettye Stanley; niece Melanie Hill; nephew, Justin Hill and wife Ashley and their children, Reagan and Camden.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial gifts be sent to the First United Methodist Church of Adamsville, or Come and See Community Kitchen of Adamsville.

The family requests anyone attending to please follow all the recommended practices for social distancing and to please wear a mask. The family sincerely appreciates all the love, support, and prayers.
