James Norman Ashe

January 9, 1947 — September 11, 2009

Mr. James Ashe passed away at Grace Healthcare in Cordova.



The husband of Judy Cornatzer Ashe, who survives, he was retired as a captain with the Memphis Police Department, having served for 32 years. He was also Lieutenant of the Motorcycle Corps with the department. A native of Memphis, he was born to Joseph Banks Ashe and Ceceila Milton Ashe, both of whom preceded him in death and lived all of his live in Memphis. He was a graduate of Tusculum College, receiving his B.S. degree and was a veteran of the US Army, having served during the Vietnam era from 1965-69. He loved to ride motorcycles and was past master of the Raleigh Masonic Lodge #770. Mr. Ashe was a communicant of St. Frances of Assisi on Germantown Parkway.



In addition to his wife, whom he married on August 13, 1966, survivors include a son and daughter in law, Alex and Hollly Ashe of Memphis; two grandchildren, Kelsey and Gavin Ashe; three sisters, Catherine Summers of southaven, MS, Maria Reid of Cordova, and Susan James of Oakland; and three brothers, Joseph Ashe of Collierville, Richard Ashe of Independence, MS and Walter Edward Ashe of Coldwater, MS.
