James Edward (Jimmy) Barkley, Cypress Inn, TN was born January 1, 1943 in Lauderdale County, Alabama, the son of Lucille Horton Barkley and the late Willie Hershel Barkley. He was united in marriage to Ann Keeton on February 8, 2003.
Mr. Barkley was owner and operator of J and N Backhoe but had previously worked with Reynolds and TVA. He was a member of the Hyde's Chapel Church of Christ, Operator Local #320, and Muscle Shoals Coon Hunters Association.
Mr. Barkley departed this life on Monday, November 30, 2009 at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital in Florence, Alabama at the age of 66 Years, 10 Months, 29 Days.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Keeton Barkley of Cypress Inn, TN; sons, Anthony Barkley and wife, Tish of Cypress Inn, TN, Nick Moore and wife, Mandy of St. Joseph, TN; daughters, Lou Pettus and husband, Michael of Green Hill, AL, Angie Heatherley and husband, Rodney of Iron City, TN, Kristy Cummings and husband, Phillip of Cypress Inn, TN; grandchildren, Blake Barkley, Whitney and Cara Pettus, Michael Wiley Pettus, II, Casey, Catlin, and Chase Cummings, Chesley and Clint Lawson, Peyton and Anna Heatherley, and Cainan Phillips; his mother, Lucille Horton Barkley of Lutts, TN; brothers, Jerry Barkley and wife, Bessie of Florence, AL, Junior Barkley and wife, Donna of Town Creek, AL, Steve Barkley and wife, Judy of Collinwood, TN; sisters, Janice Erwin and husband, Ronnie of Florence, AL, Kathy Daniel and husband, Sonny of Collinwood, TN, Donna Berry and husband, Eddie of Waynesboro, TN, Marsha Bailey and husband, Donnie of Florence, AL, Becky Vickery and husband, Stacey of Lutts, TN; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel, Collinwood, Tennessee, with Nolan Burns and Tim Hanback officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens, Collinwood, Tennessee, with Shackelford Funeral Directors of Wayne County directing. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 1, 2009 from 4 pm to 9 pm and Wednesday, December 2, 2009 from 9 am to service time at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Leroy, Robert, Eric, and Cody Darby, Shannon Holt, Shane Petty.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to St. Jude Children's Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
Special thanks to all the doctors and nurses at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital for their care.
