James Clinton Batey

April 30, 1934 — October 18, 2012

Mr. Batey has gone home to his heavenly home and he is now rejoicing in being reunited with his wife of 44 years, Martha Atwood Batey, who died December 19, 1998. He is also now with his two sons, Kenneth Lee and James Richard and his daughter, Diana Lynn Batey. He passed from this life Thursday, October 18th, at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.



Mr. Batey was a native of Paragould, Arkansas where he lived until he graduated from Paragould High School. For many years, he lived in Michigan, working for General Motors for 30 years. He retired as Plant Manager for GM. In 1996, he moved to the Middleton area and following the passing of Mrs. Martha Batey, he married Pattye June Turner on April 30, 2000. She passed away August 29, 2010. He was a member of the Middleton Church of Christ and enjoyed fishing and playing the bass guitar.



He leaves his daughter, Terrie Lawson and husband, Danny, of Iron City, TN; 2 sisters, Patricia Matney and husband, Odis, of Fenton, MI and Ruth Ann Barrow and husband, Tom; 2 brothers, Randal Batey and wife, Fran, of Davison, MI and Bob Batey and wife, Virginia, of LaPeer, MI; 6 grandchildren, April Milo and husband, Vince, of Grand Rapids, MI; Matt Batey and wife, Kendra, of Knoxville, Rebekah Glasmeier and husband, Mike, of Nashville, James Batey, II of Durham, NC, Melanie Willman and husband, Jeff, of Swartz Creek, MI and Ryan Clinton Batey of Nashville; 11 great-grandchildren, Gracie, Payton, Avery, Kennedy and Lucie Milo, Crew Batey, Ava, Ty, and Jake Glasmeier, Lance and Paige Willman.
