James "Peck" Blackwelder

James (Peck) Blackwelder

was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on August 8, 1929 the son of the late Toney and Daisy Meadors Blackwelder.

On April 22, 1955 he was united in marriage to Juanita Alexander, who survives.

Mr. Blackwelder served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean War working in the Military Police. After serving in the military he worked for Brown Shoe Company and became a self employed plumber in his later years. Mr. Blackwelder loved being a member of the First Baptist Church in Savannah. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, bird hunting and having a big garden. He always cherished all the moments he would spend with his family.

In addition to his wife of 66 years, Juanita of Savannah, Tennessee, Mr. Blackwelder is survived by his children, Don Blackwelder and his wife Debbie, Greg Blackwelder and his wife Danette, and Philip Blackwelder and his wife Christy, all of Savannah, Tennessee; grandchildren, Dustin Blackwelder, Brenton Blackwelder, Logan Blackwelder and his wife Shelby, Cory Blackwelder, Reed Blackwelder, and Grant Lumpkin and his wife Amber; great grandchildren, Olivia Lumpkin, Sloane Lumpkin, and Claire Blackwelder; and brothers, J. E. Blackwelder and Dan Blackwelder.

Mr. Blackwelder was preceded in death by his parents, and three sisters, Margaret Northcutt, Emogene Polk, and Sarah Evans and five brothers, Hugh, Vaughn T., Burnace, Bert, and Tommy Blackwelder.
