was born in Shiloh, Tennessee on March 23, 1953, the son of the late Raymond Delong and Mattie Magdeline Meeks Cotner.
On February 28, 1986, he was united in marriage to Eva Ledell Austin, who survives.
Jim was a retired driver for Medical Plaza Pharmacy in Corinth, Mississippi. In his younger years Jim was a wonderful baseball player. He was a very talented guitar player, and loved playing and listening to classic country and gospel hymns, his favorite of all was Blessed Jesus Hold My Hand. In his spare time he enjoyed painting the outside scenery of nature and woodworking in his shop.
Jim departed this life on Sunday, August 6, 2023 in Counce, Tennessee at the age of 70 years, 4 months, and 14 days.
In addition to his wife of 37 years, Eva Austin Hicks Cotner of Counce, Tennessee, he is survived by his children, Cynthia Cotner (Bethany) of Corinth, Mississippi, Nick Cotner of Corinth, Mississippi, and Angela Pickens (Troy) of Michie, Tennessee; grandchildren, Hunter Hatfield, Cain Cotner, Levi Pickens (Savannah), and Katie Pickens; great grandchild, Mila Pickens; sister, Shirley Meek of Counce, Tennessee; brother, Randy Cotner (Gayle) of Counce, Tennessee; sisters-in-law, Ann Cotner and Linda Cotner, both of Counce, Tennessee; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Delong and Mattie Meeks Cotner; brothers, Jerry Cotner and Earl Cotner; and brother-in-law, Travis Meek.
