James Willard (Pappy) Cox was born on August 5, 1948 in Hardin County, Tennessee, the son of the late Jessie Lynn and Ruby Christine White Cox. On December 1, 1967, he was united in marriage to Mildred Marie Scott, who survives.
Pappy, as he was known by many, was employed by Walmart for 14 years in the Tire and Lube Department. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Savannah, Tennessee and lived in Hardin County all of his life. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, gardening, riding tractors, family get-togethers, and skeet shooting with his grandchildren. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
James Cox departed this life on February 1, 2016 in Nashville, Tennessee at the age of 67 years, 5 months, 27 days.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marie Cox of Savannah, Tennessee; 2 daughters, Charolette Anderson, and her husband Tim, of Savannah, Tennessee and Wanda Stanfill, and her husband Randy, of Savannah, Tennessee; 2 brothers, Harley Cox of Savannah, Tennessee and David Cox of Morristown, Tennessee; 1 sister, Brenda Lambert of Savannah, Tennessee; 5 grandchildren, Brian Anderson, Cody White, Levi Anderson, Shelby Stanfill, and Jacob Stanfill; and 2 great-grandchildren Leah White and Carter Anderson.
