James Hoyt Cummins

James Hoyt Cummins of Clinton Township, MI was born July 26, 1934 in Collinwood, TN, the son of the late Ollie Prince and Jimmie Dicus Cummins. He was united in marriage to Sharon Smith on December 5, 1985, was a retired machinist with Coldform Fasterners and was a United States Army veteran.

Mr. Cummins departed this life on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at his at the age of 83 Years, 3 Months, 9 Days.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Cummins of Clinton Township, MI; sons, Jimmy Gruber of Saint Helen, MI, Kenneth Smith of Clinton Township, MI; daughters, Shelia Sherrill of Collinwood, TN, Tonya Hice and husband, Brian of Clinton Township, MI, Sonya Kilburn of Ferndale, MI, Tammy Suratt and husband, Justyn of Clinton Township, MI; grandchildren, Angie Irwin, Brandy Staten, Brianna Sherrill, Michael Scott, Jimmy Lee Gruber, Aleena, Aaron and Austin Kilburn, Destini Watts and Chasen and Ella Griffith; great-grandchildren, Erin and Ethan Irwin, Ashton Staten and Jaden Gruber; a brother, Tommy Cummins of Collinwood, TN; nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Cummins was preceded in death by brothers, Roy, Johnny Don and Prince Jr Cummins; sisters, Patsy Gray and Marie Butler.

Services will be Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 3:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel, Collinwood, Tennessee, with Steven Turnbow officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in Memorial Gardens, Collinwood, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing. Pallbearers will be Aaron Kilburn, Austin Kilburn, Michael Scott, Jimmy Gruber, Brian Hice, Justyn Suratt, Kenny Smith and Chasen Griffith.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 8, 2017 from 2 pm to 9 pm and Thursday, November 9, 2017 from 11 am until service time at the funeral home.
