James V. Davis departed this life on Saturday, January 24, 2015, at the age of 74 years, 8 months, 3 days.
He was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on May 21, 1940, the son of the late Vernon Duncan and Mary Isabelle Ferrell Davis. On December 7, 1957, he was united in marriage to Joyce Clement Davis, who survives.
James had been self-employed as a logger and a farmer. He had also worked for Hassell's Lumber Company, Temple Chattanooga, and William's Lumber Company. He was a loving family man, a hard-worker, he loved to fish and hunt , he loved to help others. James loved his neighbors, he had a big heart, a sharp sense of humor, and was friendly to everyone. He is very loved by his family and will be greatly missed.
James is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joyce Davis of Savannah, Tennessee; daughter, Sherry Burross of Savannah, Tennessee; grandchildren, Brooke Oakley of Savannah, Tennessee and Tamara Burross of Buffalo, New York; great grandchild, Hallie Oakley of Savannah, Tennessee; sisters, Robbie Selph of Savannah, Tennessee, Willie Kay McGarity of Morris Chapel, Tennessee, and Frankie Nell Pipes of Savannah, Tennessee.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Isom Davis.
